I went into the woods and I got it, sat down to look for it but couldn't find it, so I took it home with me. What am I?

when I got it home I lost it. Now, I dont know what the hell I was doing in the woods in the first place, (but thats besides the point). When I stopped to think about what I remembered..... I couldnt find it again. So I forgot my idea and let it go.
I think I'll go for a walk in the woods/
