Ok i have REALLY dark brown hair that almost looks black. I am trying to decide to highlight it or dye it? And if I do....what color?!?!? I need help!

i love dark hair with a burgandy rinse! go semi permanent( the ones that last about a month) then you can see if you like it before putting in a permanent colour.

I had dark brown hair and highlighted it light brown. I'm going back to get some blonde highlights in. I would recommend maybe a reddish color for black hair.

i highly recommend you talk to a professional that can feel your hair and look at your hair as well as see your skin tones and eye colors, get a feel for the inner you and find something to accent that. Just remember when you ask for your colorist's opinion please ask about highlights and color, not "dye", we never kill it honey just accent it. This is something best left to a professional especially since your very unsure of what you want. You will create a mess and this is NOT what you want to do. Also being that you know your hair is dark you will pull alot of red in your hair, so again i must stress importance in a professional's suggestions.

If you are going to dye it I would say dye it a medium coloured brown and put in really light brown highlights or light blonde highlights. If you are just going to put in highlights I would do really light brown or light blonde for that as well.

Really dark hair can tend to look dull. Highlights (or have you thought about lowlights) would give you dimension in your hair.
But lowlights or highlights are quite alot of upkeep. You have to get your roots done every 6-8 wks. So keep that in mind .

If you highlight it, (my friend has this) do lite brown, some dark blonde and red, it look really good. and if you dye it do it a really dark blonde because with dark har it wont turn out very light

Make some appointments for consultations at some salons you like the look of. Go on line and look for area salons. Ask if they charge, some do and some don't. All that means is more money out of your pocket if they do.
Keep looking for a stylist until you find someone who is going to make you feel important in their chair. Eye contact, time of day, etc.
Pay attention to what she is saying. Is she looking at your skin tone, eye color? Is she coming up with ideas for color? Look for these things. Is she on the same page with her ideas.

I think subtle highlights would be pretty to start. Ask your hairdresser what color since she can see your eyes and skin tones. A few shades lighter than your natural hair color would look nice!

i would go with highlights but if u did dye ur hair u might want to go with a light brown so u wont look a little off

I think it would look pretty with some golden blonde highlights that way its not so hard on your hair. I go to cosmotolgy school i have done that a million times.
