a balanced meal needs to have protein, carbohydrates, and a little fat. your body and especially your brain, needs all of these.

1. i buy chocolate flavored eggwhite protein (Optimum is the best brand) at the health food store. egg whites are the purest form of protein, tasteless by themselves, and the powdered eggwhites mix easily with liquids.

so, i mix a scoop of protein powder with 8 ounces of 2% milk (carbs and fat) and coffee (because i like coffee but you can skip it). because of the coffee i also add several packets of splenda.

i drink half of it at breakfast, usually with some whole wheat toast or a bannana. i carry the rest with me in a thermos and i try to drink some every 2 to 3 hours to keep my metabolism "up."

2. i blend 1 cup 2% milk and one cup vanilla yogurt with a handful of frozen sliced peaches (or fruit of choice). you can add vanilla flavored eggwhite protein to this if you want. this makes a milk shake.

if you make this as soon as you get up and put it in a container in the freezer, then by the time you are dressed it is thicker. stir it up and it will be like soft serve ice cream. i like to eat it with granola and sometimes i will put sliced straawberries in it.

Mine doesn't even need a blender:

Two parts OJ (prefer fresh, just "squooze")
One part spicey V-8
Lime/Lemon Slice
Cayenne pepper to taste

This could replace alcohol! Really gets me going in the A.M.

blend until smooth: 1 small container french vanilla yoghurt, 1/2 cup milk, i hard boiled egg (shelled), 1 peeled orange(seeded or seedless),1 tablespoon portien powder. note: the egg adds thickness, texture, richness, and a perfectly balanced protien.
