my ex-girlfriend told me on the phone the other day that if something bad happened to her, i would be the first person she would call after the police

it's been months since our break up. she lives 2000 miles away from me, now. she has family and lives 3 blocks away from her best friend. we only went out for a few months during summer vacation.

i present this question: why would she choose to call me? what makes me so important? and most importantly

why does it bother me so much?

Everyone likes to feel needed and wanted. think of how bitter life would be if we didn't have someone that cared about us.It shouldn't bother you, it should flatter you.It sounds like this person has a high level of respect for you and really cares about what you think. She probably chooses to call you because whatever relationship you had , had an impact on her life. Sometimes long distances from acquaintances will cause you to reminisce. You start thinking about the good times you had and that old flame, doused it may be, will start to re-kindle a little and those old feelings show up again. If I were you, I would be happy that I had a friend that cared as much and thought of me as an important person in their life. I hope all goes well. Good Luck.

im clueless just like u
My ex over the summer got in a major roll over accident..she was 14. She broke many bones and was in the hospital a while. I was the first one she called, even before her best freinds or even her sister. idk why she even called i hadnt spoke to her for months then nowhere i get the call

I was bothered too and idk y....i think i just felt bad for not being there for her, every little thing that i didnt do that caused our breakup i wanted to go back and do...I started to think what if i had lost her...i would want to be good with her.
good thing i didnt

It seems as if she is trying to drop hints to you showing that she still likes you. It's not 100% sure, but if you are still interested in her (which you probably are, since this is bothering you so much) I say try talking to her more about your relationship and if she would ever consider rekindling any old feelings.

i am not sure why it bothers you unless you feel guilty for breaking up with her. she obviously still cares for you deeply. you are important to her and she wants you to know when she is in harms way. she hopes you can come to save her or comfort her. you should be flattered.....

I don't know about the first part, but it bothers you because it is a bit creepy and obsessive.

Maybe because you still have feelings for her....and maybe she chose you because she considers you a really good friend....
