I've had fleas several times, so I can speak from experience. First step is to treat your animal or all your animals, even if they have no sign of fleas, because if you treat one they will just go to another animal. Next, vacuum the floors of your home, even the wood ones. The vibration encourages fleas to come out because they assume its an animal walking across the floor and then you suck them up. Then get some sort of flea spray to kill the fleas that are left over. Be sure to do only a few rooms at a time so you can isolate them and keep yourself and the animal(s) away. That will kill a majority. Within a week or so, the fleas will not be able to survive because their source of food (the animals) have been treated. The fleas may bite you, but they cannot survive on your blood. They can stay dormant though, so be sure to continue treating your animals. I recommend Advantage, which is what I use on both my cats. Don't try any products like flea collars, they DO NOT work.

It is great you have the frontline. Now you have to de flea the house/yard or whatever area dog is in most. Fleas will still be around in environment. Adams makes a very good spray/fogger for the house. I tried several. Adams makes a reliable flea shampoo, spray and powder also. Sold at vets and pet stores.
Get serious inside the house with bedding, carpet, etc. Starting to get cold most places and that will help with outside fleas but may not kill off.
Using a topical like frontline is not 100% because of fleas living in the carpets, furniture, etc. So do the housecleaning and situation should improve a lot.

ok don't use flea collars-waste of money. don't give your dog a bathe up to 48 hours before you apply frontline or advantage because the product needs the natural oils in the hair folicles and skin to be able to work properly. don't use other OTC products like bio spot etc esp if you have cats in the house because the product can be fatal to cats. you can't use frontline for only a month or two and expect all the fleas to be gone. can take from 6 mo to a year to be completly flea free enviroment once you get an infestation. you have to treat the enviroment also. check with your vet for a spray and a fogger with an IGR in it. Insect growth regulator. this kills 3 or the life stages of the 4 that fleas have. they can lie dormant in the pupua stage, which is the stage that can't be killed and they can control when to hatch. hence the reason it takes so long to get rid of fleas. fleas are one of the biggest issues for pet owners. don't bother with a flea dip or shampoo just a waste as fleas know how to swim and usually not enough chemicals in these to kill them. capstar, which is another product you can get from your vet will kill any adult fleas in about 10-15 min after giving the pill to your dog. but again you have to maintain the frontline, advantage or revolution monthly on your dog. good luck and hope this helps

You need to treat the house too or your dog will just keep getting reinfested. When our kitten had fleas we treated her and the house at the same time. Vacuum everything every other day for a few weeks and wash everything fabric that's been out in the house (including curtains.) We cut up a flea collar and sucked it up with the vacuum to kill any that were in the bag. We also used carpet spray on all the carpet and furniture, especially where the kitten spent any amount of time. We haven't seen a flea since!! Good luck!
Oh, and just a side note, our vet recommended Revolution over Frontline because Revolution protects against heartworms also. :)

Well, frontline isn't going to be 100% effective if there's an infestation in your home, but you are only treating the dog. You have to also treat your home with a flea bomb and/or sprays to kill any that are living in the carpet. Also, Frontline can't be applied for AT LEAST 2 days after a bath/flea dip as the bathing removes the oils from the skin and this is what helps to spread the meds properly. You also can't bath right away after applying the frontline either, or it will only wash it off. Best to put off bathing until just before the next dose. A single dose of frontline in a home infested with fleas won't take care of the problem either. It needs to be maintained monthly until the home has been properly rid of fleas. You also have to treat your yard for them.

Frontlin should get rid of the fleas on your dog and the flea eggs if you apply it right between the shoulder blades and it is not enough to give once but is a monthly treatment esp when you first start for the first dose ws not enough to kill new fleas still hatching from flea eggs. Also did you get rid of the fleas where the dog sleeps and hangs out-his bedding needs to either be washed in hot water or replaced-if he comes inside theres a good possiblity there are fleas in the house. There are flea spray o be used in the house and kennel areas-NOT on the dog for can be fatal. for a animal. Do not put flea powder and frontline on your dog-can make him harm or can be fatal for it is too much poison for him. Use the frontline until no evidence of fleas but if your dog goes outside needs a once a month treatment for fleas can be picked up from the outside and other dogs, animals.

the frontline should work, keep applying it for 3-5 months. Also vacuum the house thoroughtly and dispose of the bag. (the fleas can live in there) Also you must treat all the pets in the house. And finally use a premise spray for the house and the car if the dog goes there too. Essentially anywhere the dog goes should be treated

You need to keep up with the flea treatments for months. If the fleas are on your dog, they're most likely in your carpet, on other pets and in your yard.
Keep treating the dog, treat all animals in your home. You have to kill the adults, then the larve, and finally the eggs. It takes a little while but be patient.
My girls are on Revolution (treats fleas, ticks, heartworm, earmites, etc). Also, I sprinkled table salt on my carpet to help kill the fleas in my home.
Good luck and stick with it.

Go to the vet and get the dog a flea dip. Then make sure you get some spray for your house if it's a house dog and spray everywhere the dog has been. They really like carpet to hide in. Keep spraying until you get rid of them. Good luck.
We used the Hartz Advanced Care 4 in 1 and it seemed to work for our dog.
