I'm assuming you're saying the recipe calls for 1-3/4 cup? Half would be 7/8 of a cup or 7 fluid ounces.

Since measuring cups don't come in 7/8, just eyeball it. Cut the 1 cup in half by using a 1/2 cup and then just eyeball 1/2 of the 3/4 cup. Most recipes don't have to be perfectly measured.

if you meant 1/2 of 1-3/4 cups see below
1-3/4=7/4 as 1cup 4/4+3/4=7/4
7/4X1/2=7/8

You like math? Four tablespoons of "dry" ingredients ( flour, salt, sugar, etc) are equal to one quarter of a cup cup of "dry ingredients" for the most part. Also one tablespoon in equal to two and a half teaspoons in the same respect. Either do the math throughout, or I can tell you a half of one and three quarters of a cup is 80.75% of a cup, try 1/2a cup plus 1/3 of a cup minus 1 teaspoons. Enjoy!
