That sounds like a great idea! But... my sson and I ran a soup kitchen for years, and we noticed that around this time of year, we had more help and more donations than we could use. I'd suggest that you talk to folks, but plan to help out after the holidays when people tend to forget that there are still hungry people out there.

And for the person up there ^ who went on about "able bodied people" at a local soup kitchen, I agree. There are some people who buck the system. But, the vast majority of the people I see need help. Most of our "able bodied" guys are actually working. It's just that here (outside Boston), housing prices are still so high that many people don't have the luxury of not eating in a cold church basement. I've fed people who are obviously needy and people who might not really *need* to be there. But, I'll be dipped if I stop helping 99% of the folks who I feed just because 1% of them might not really need the help. Also, some of the folks who might be just on the edge financially need to social help. Who am I, (or you) to decide who needs what? I hope that if you ever find yourself at the edge, that there is a safety net.
