Sounds like a very bad case of insomnia. There are a few things you should take into account. Is your bed comfortable? Are there noises keeping you awake? Are you drinking a caffeine or alcoholic drink before bed? If it's not an ouside factor such as those, then you need to try a few different things. First dry deep breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. Concentrate on the breathing and imagine all of your problems flowing out of your toes. Concentrate on doing this excersise, it usually puts people right to sleep. If that doesn't work you may need to try putting some "white" noise in the room such as a bubbling fish tank or turn on a fan for the noise. Hopefully this helps you. Definitely try the breathing thing. GOOD LUCK! :-)

someone sounds stressed out!!! here's what i could suggest that may/may not work but here they are anyways:
sleep with the heat on: a warm room. i find that i fall asleep faster in a warm room, cause it's relaxing to me
do a lot during the day: i have a hectic lifestyle, and although it's stressful (well maybe not really for being a high school senior) but i do everything from dance, powderpuff, hiphop dance team, marching band, french club president, just everything. by the time it's close to 10:30/11 at night, i fall into bed and usually fall right asleep
music: i fall asleep with music, to a soft radio station. it's calming, peaceful, relaxing.
no empty stomach: warm milk is gross, i dont know where that came up with, it just tastes like sour milk. maybe something thats warm, but not warm milk something relaxing that's NOT coffee. past couple days (gotta get into the winter mood) i've been having hot apple cider, although it might not help with the sugar in it. maybe warm tea? although i think tea is gross, so can't recommend something.
hope you can have a peaceful rest and gain back all the sleep you lost. maybe this thanksgiving break (if you get one or something like that) will help you with that.

so thats what i wrote about couple days ago. i found this article in my psych textbook, maybe it might help you
natural alternatives sleep experts offer:
1. relax before bedtime, using a dimmer light
2. avoid caffeine (this includes chocolate) after late afternoon and avoid rich foods. it suggests a glass of milk (doesn't say warm though, so maybe cold milk wouldn't matter)
3. sleep on a regular schedule & avoid naps.
4. exercise regularly, but not in the late evening. late afternoon is best.
5. reassure yourself that the temporary loss of sleep causes no great harm, certainly nothing worth losing sleep over.
6. if nothing else works, aim for less sleep; go to bed later or get up earlier.
sleeping pills and alcohol can aggravate the problem

That depends on how old you are. If you are under the age of 18 and living at home, tell your parents and go to your doctor. If you are over the age of 18, you need to ascertain if your problem is physical or neurological. You could start taking some natural products you can buy at a health food store, such as Valerian Root and St. John's Wort. You can also go to a doctor and get a prescription to try some sleeping pills. Ambien CR works well. One thing you may want to try in Tylenol PM or the CVS version. Sometimes I have a had time falling to sleep and the CVS version of Tylenol PM works great for me.

Go buy powdered Inositol, which you can buy at a health food store. It is a B vitamin that comes in a powdered form and you can just dissolve it in a glass of water. It is safe to take up to 4 grams at a time (1/4 teaspoon is between 500 and 750 milligrams) but it is best to start with just 1 teaspoon. Drink it down and you will be able to sleep but you should still wake up refreshed. Absolutely no negative side effects and it works way better than sleeping pills.

O man I feel bad for you. I kinda know how it feels but not for a week. Daang.
What is on your mind? See a doctor.
Here are somethings that help me:
- Turn temp to 68F
- Block ALL light somehow (Tin foil on windows)
- Kill all noise
- Blow out your nose real good to get the breathing at max
- Drink some water not a lot
- Take two nyquil
- Get a History book and start reading in low light
But if you can't beat it see a doctor soon. What a nightmare.

Have you tried tylenol pm? I suffer from insomnia sometimes. Tylenol pm usually works. If you can't sleep, don't just lay in bed. Get up and move around for a little bit or watch t.v. until you feel sleepy. Then try. Don't fight sleep. If you are feeling tired, lay down and close your eyes. I have fought myself through the sleepy stage before and then couldn't sleep. Good luck, it's a pain to not be able to sleep.

Have you tried Benadryl the antihistamine? That's what they put in tylenol PM and those products, just pay more for it. They give it to old people for sleep because it is pretty safe, try 25 mg. first then try 50 mg. If it doesn't help go to the Dr. sleep disorders run in my family so, I know of what you speak. i never sleep and that's even with meds for it. I am just always in the fright, flight mode for some odd reason and it never goes away. Good luck.

Try and take a warm bath about 1 hour prior to going to bed. When going to bed try and quiet your mind with soothing sounds from a cd or something else.
Do not focus on trying to sleep as it will just keep you awake.

Try taking a warm bath before bed time and drink some herbal tea. If you are distubed about something, try writing out your thoughts and feelings before you go to sleep, it should help you worry less at night.
