Personally I like to deal with it symptomatically. Lots of Tylenol (acetaminophen/paracetamol) for headache and fever, and decongestant so that I don't have a runny and stuffy nose along with pressure-filled sinuses. If I think I'm having 'allergy-like' symptoms, like itchy/redness stuff, I take an antihistamine (such as Claritin, aka Alavert aka loratidine, and there are many others).

Otherwise, I'm left just a little bit tired from fighting the cold, after I take all these meds.

Don't overdo the meds though, Tylenol's hard on your liver...

The website below has the fastest way (fast) to get over colds and flus. It also has the way to avoid them and what they have to do with cold weather (a cold). Even has Mark Twain's cure for colds and flus.

Lots of euchanacea, lots of garlic and lots of hot, fresh orange juice.

Euchanacea will dry you up quickly. Garlic helps to boost the immune system. The vitamin C will help your body fight it off and having it hot will ease the symptoms.
