I'd say so.
I'm pretty much outcast from my family for speaking my mind and telling them the truth (about a lot of things they did to me and my siblings). I feel more free because I decided to stand my ground and not keep quiet, than I did when I felt it better to keep silent.
Courage absolutely is a tremendous thing.
