I know all objects with a battery were banned in the US because of the Britain conflict, but I was wondering if the battery ban was lifted. I will be flying on United Airways.

Yes, you should be able to travel with a laptop without any problems. I actually flew back into the country from Germany this summer soon after the ban on liquids. Luckily my layover was in Iceland rather than through the UK. Before departing from Germany, I was suggested to place my laptop into my check-in luggage because according to the agent I could encounter problems before entering the States. However I refused to and although security was indeed extremely tight, I did not encounter any problems or closer scrutiny when passing through both gate screenings.

If you have any additional questions regarding permissible carry-on items, check out the information posted on the TSA site.

However, if you are flying in and out of the UK, I’m not sure if the carry on ban has been lifted yet. Even my little sister, who is 10 years old and was traveling alone this summer to London, was not allowed to bring her stuffed animal into the cabin with her. Domestic and international travel carry-on restrictions can vary. For example, I can bring on knitting needles on domestic flights, but the same needles are prohibited for flights within Europe.

I don't know anything about a battery ban. Last time I flew ( a couple of weeks ago) you could bring a laptop on. You just had to take it out when you went through security.

i think you can. my partner always brings his laptop on the airplane.

I'm not sure if the battery ban was lifted, but if ever the people at the airport would tell you to check in your laptop, just ask them if they are willing to pay for the laptop if it gets busted from going through the conveyor belt and being loaded into the plane.

Based on my own observation, any electronical device like my laptop, my hand held, my ipod and cellphone can be brought on the plane. just make sure that all the wires like blugs, usb ports, and other things of that nature will be placed in your check in luggage. I think that's what gets the airport security's attention.

I believe that you still can bring a laptop on the aircraft. The only difference is they scan it by itself and occasionally you need to turn the laptop on to prove its a computer. I traveled that week of the Britain conflict and I had my laptop with me. You may want to check with the TSA to be sure http://www.tsa.gov/ They have a complete list of what you can and cannot bring on the aircraft with you and they keep it updated as things are changing constantly.

Yes BUT, you have to prove that it's a working laptop and not just a shell of a laptop with an explosive device inside

MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A WORKING BATTERY INSTALLED SO THAT YOU MAY PROVE IT'S A WORKING
LAPTOP.

Yes you can.

All the airlines say that its safer to take more valuble items like laptops on board with you as the airline does not have control of baggage handelers.

Security at Sydney airport stole my dads sun glases as they went through X Ray. They denied it and they were $200 sun glases!

Always take valubles on board with you
