First off, the law needs to be enforced. Illegal immigration's been accelerating ever since the 86 amnesty, and there's pro-illegal advocates that've really been pushing for this. It's a fair-sized movement, so first step is to publicly take issue with THAT, and remind people that yes, there are serious legal, financial, and enforcement-related penalties, like same-day deportation, that can be used to reinforce the immigration laws, that companies and corporations have only about soooo much leeway, there.
Our borders need to be enforced with more than token gestures, to make it a lot harder to get into our country to begin with. In the instance of Mexico, this is provisioned for in the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo.
-------------
ARTICLE XVI
Each of the contracting parties reserves to itself the entire right to fortify whatever point within its territory it may judge proper so to fortify for its security.
----------------
The Treaty still stands, and Mexico has not disputed the Treaty, therefore it is within the bounds of that agreement to fortify the ENTIRE border, if it is deemed necessary or prudent to do so.
Reviewing the facts, and a map, would be a great place to start, in my mind, so that all parties concerned can operate in a lawful, mutually beneficial, and non-competitive method and fashion.
The United States of America is comprised of the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii, and minor territories. None of the 48 states are up for grabs. Specious land claims, border violations, and so forth, really aren't the practices that good neighbors allow themselves.
Mexico has domestic issues. Due to poor border enforcement, their domestic issues are now rapidly becoming america's domestic issues. I think starting with good border enforcement would be a great way to help clear the entire mess up.

Texas needs to get rid of the Sanctuary policies in some of the big cities. It needs to empower local police to cooperate with the federal government and arrest and deport illegal aliens. There are many towns across the country using local laws that stop illegal aliens from operating in their towns.
For example, require someone getting a drivers license to undergo a background check, or require home owners or renters to prove citizenship. Anything that sends a message that if you are not here legally you should leave.

We must stay in this fight. We need enforcement of the law and much stronger punishment for the immigrants that enter this country illegally along wtih the employers that hire them. Stay on your elected officials and encourage your friends to get involved. The more voices involved the sooner action will be taken.
