Hmm. Of course its not weird. You are used to feeling a certain way, and there was a degree of safety in that. What you have now sounds like hope. Hope for the future, and in a way that can be a little scary. That goes for everyone. Its uncertain when you dont know what is coming.
Well done to you for leaving your past behind you. You will now be able to empathise with others who feel like you once did - there sure is a lot of them!
How you feel is how you feel. Dont doubt yourself!

Could it be a religious issue? Sometimes, people feel closer to God when they are depressed due to a bad interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount. So in a twisted way, they want to remain in a mourning state. But this isn't the will of God for you to remain depressed .
It could also be hormonal. Especially in middle school, your body is going through many changes which can cause abnormal mood swings as well.
Seek some help especially while you are young so that you don't ruin these years when you should be developing good friendships and having a ball and deciding what to do with the rest of your life.

Its not strange at all. High school is a really stressful time in our lives. We feel mature, yet we still feel childish and our bodies are doing things that our minds can't keep up with. That chemical balance takes a while to kick in and in some cases, depending on whether you have a stressful life or not, can make those times seem dreadful. It is good....no, it is great you no longer feel suicidal but of course it feels strange. Each year that passes in your life, you develop who you are and what you want. I remember when I was young always wanting to be older. Then when I hit my early 30's I wanted to be young again but guess what? I am in my early 40's and I love it! I am finally confident in myself, my goals, my life and although I have "mature" stress's...the norm...bills, careers, raising my son....it feels good to be in control even if I act out of control sometimes. It is truly amazing what the body can do to the mind and what the mind can do to our souls. Sometimes we should just stop...breath...and listen to our hearts. You are not strange at all.
((((((hugs)))))))

I used to feel that way in high school. Once you leave there, and find out a little more about who you are, then you start to be more comfortable in ytour own skin and those feeling go away. If theye ever come back, just remember that you are a cool person, and that YOU like you so it doesn't matter what others think. Just take some time alone to regroup.

Ya, adolescent depression can be a *****, but I'm glad you successfully came out of it. And just like another commentator responded, there was a sense of security in it that leaves you reminiscing on that lifestyle. I feel that way too at times. I think it's normal. Our lives are always changing and we just have to keep up with it.
Good luck!
