what are some fun, educational, games for kids 7-9 yrs. old, for PC?

my 7 yr. old got a second hand pc and we want her to make the most of it.

If you have aol and don't mind spending about $5 per month they have a really cute program called aol learning games (just go to keyword and type in aol learning games). The program offers reading, science, math, geography etc... You can have up to 7 accounts I believe. Some plus points are that it is age appropriate- you input your child's birthday and the games are geared toward their age and increase in level with each game they complete, you can also track your child's progress- when you sign in with your screenname you can see the most frequently played games, what level their on etc...that helps with seeing where their interests lie and what they may need additional help with. All 3 of my kids play the games and they are 3, 5 and 10.

Forget the PC..just lock your kids in the basement and then go and have some time for yourself. I do it all the time. They always bang on the door and scream, but I just turn on my headphones and go play computer games. Seriosly, they'll get over it.

overlook the laptop..only lock your toddlers in the basement and then bypass and have a while for your self. I do it continuously. They consistently bang on the door and scream, yet I only activate my headphones and bypass play laptop video games. Seriosly, they're going to recover from it.

Jumpstart and reader rabbit have excellent educational games for kids. Jumpstart has a typing program that my kids really loved.

I always liked the game math blasters............they have it for different types of ages............or you can always check............www.yahoo.com and then type in educational games.
