Go to a doctor & ask about sleep apnea. It's the easiest doctor visit you'll ever have, and the therapy (a machine to help you breathe at night) will be the best thing for you, if you have sleep apnea.

Snoring is one of the sleeping disorders and a condition caused by the wrong posture during sleep. The nasal passage is not opened properly therefore the wind going down the throat produces the fluttering loud sound.

Its annoying to others as well as to yourself. Some people is awakened by their own snore.

It can also be a warning of having OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea)

OSA is a swollen airway preventing free airflow. This could cause choking problem during sleep and could lead to death.

my husband snored so bad that he would quit breathing. he went for a sleep study and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. he now has a c-pap machine that he uses faithfully. snoring can be very damaging to your internal organs and should be checked.
this c-pap machine has saved his life. he sleeps better now. he feels better during the day and isnt tired all the time.

Turbinate nasal sinus surgery(?). But this carries risks. Look in your favorite supermarket's medicine aisle for Breathe-Rite nasal strips. They open up the nasal passages really wide, and I believe they help with snoring. (I was using them to help with breathing. Some things in my life must have improved, as I haven't needed them in quite a while.)
