Put in a zip lock bag. A battery is a chemical reaction, and cooling will slow the chemical reaction. I usually just keep them in the fridge though because I am unsure what freezing will to them (will they expand and leak)

I don't know but there is one way to find out . the batteries should be sealed from moisture although the ice box should have less moisture due to freezing than elsewhere the only thing I would concern myself about is whether or not they might freeze and break their seal thus leaking ...

I don't store my batteries in the freezer. But, I do store them in the refrigerator. I have had batteries last up to 2 years this way. I date the batteries when I buy them, this way I can pull out the oldest batteries when needed.

It's an rumor, but it seems thats true. Don't freeze them too long though, or the battery fluid will freeze up, making the battery useless.
