The problem is starting the car, sometimes it take 3 to 4 seconds before it starts. It seems to happen after I get gas. The next time I try to start it, it starts fine?

You shouldn't worry too much about it. There probably isn't anything wrong with your car. It might just be the weather or something. Maybe it was cold. But nevertheless if you are worried just take it to a mechanic (don't go to dealer- the charge you WAAAAAAY too much for the same service) and have them check it. But Toyota Matrix is a good car. Saves lots of gas.
Good Luck.

If it has become cold wherever you live then there could be water in the line. You can buy drygas at an Autozone and add it to the gas tank, it eliminates the water in the line. It may also be a clog in the line. Try replacing the fuel filter, if you have no experience fixing cars I would recommend taking it to a local garage. If you accidentally twist the line, the car becomes unable to drive. You really dont want to mess up anything where there is gasoline involved.

Doesn't seem to be a big problem. Your car is 2004 which is still under factory warranty. Take it to a dealership. Service is free!!

Toyota issued a technical service bulletin for this concern. Your vehicle may or may not be involved. They were replacing computers on certain vehicles. It may also be considered normal operation. It would be best to make an appointment with your local dealer.

No. I am a Mazda salesperson and I have to say, the Matrix is a much better car. ANY OTHER Mazda would work, but the RX-8 is not known for quality. Mazda Salesperson

Take it to the dealership. They're great cars, so I'm sure it's nothing major.
