You can get awesome wedding dress for anywhere between $300. and $800.

I know Because just maybe...lol you never know the styles change.
also check the brides magazines they have great pictures and you can get that dress and different sellers charge different prices. alterations are the killer. I am tall so I don't have to worry. Also bridal shows have dress sales.

The average dress is much less than 5k...the couture dresses are going to run you 4k an dabove, but you can find dresses under 1k. I would not personally spend 12k on a wedding gown. If you do though...it'd better be made out of gold because that is a rediculous price to pay!!!

Although the price of a gown, and how expensive it is, is totally relative to the individual and her budge— $5K is a bit much to spend on a wedding gown, and $12K is out of the question...when there are SO MANY affordable options.

The average price of a wedding gown in the US is $800 - $1200. Finding your dream gown is definitely possible in that range if you search high and low. Also consider the price of alterations...those fees can quickly add up.

Good luck on your dress hunt!

if you are a celebrity than 12 thousand should be the average price. 5 thousand is about average for wedding dress. Many people I know spends less than 1 thousand for their dress. I got married last yr and purchased an Oleg Cassini dress and only cost me $1200.

12 thousand is definitly a lot - if you can afford to do it without going into debt - go for it. As for average - I did a survey on my wedding blog once: 25% spent less then $500, 40% spent $500 - $1000 and 25% spent $1000-$2000. Only 10% spent more then $2000.

Basedon that, average is under $2000.

well, eveyone has different resources, and different priorities. Just remember that you're wearing this dress once, and don't assume "your daughter will wear it," or some such thing, because the styles will change and your own kids will want what they want, not what you want them to have.

How else would you spend twelve thousand dollars? Do you have that money to spend? Only you and your fiancee can answer that.

I can tell you I found a knock-out gorgeous dress that is flattering and fits me like a dream on the $99 dollar rack at David's Bridal. I kid you not, the hemming costs more than the dress! And I have a lot more money to spend on things like a honeymoon and a downpayment on a house.

Good luck and congrats!

Well people will get more angry, a lot of people will have a hard time getting by, prices for everything else that you buy will skyrocket. Our economy is way to reliant on fossil fuels which is why gas co. are jacking up the prices because they know they can make a killing. Supply and demand that's the way it works. But in a way it is a good thing that this is happening because then we will have yet another reason to stop using fossil fuels... other than it destroying our planet.

Unless you have money to burn, I think that's way over the top.
I think most spend $800-$1500. My wife's was great and I think it was $700.
I get the idea you are looking at a $12K dress and your hub to be or whoever is paying for it is trying to limit you to $5K.
Wouldn't you rather spend the extra few thousand on honeymoon fun, or furniture for your home, or almost anything?

The average price of a reasonably priced wedding gown in Chicago is $1,000 - $1,500.

$5,000 is way too high, and $12,000 is ridiculous! Only celebrities and rich people pay that much! And remember, it's not how much it costs, but how it makes you feel. You can find plenty of gorgeous wedding gowns online for less than $1,000.

Haha, I won't even let my wedding cost 12 thousand dollars! I'm not even the one paying. Weddings are such a waste of money. 5000 is way too much. Try a few hundred dollars.
