I'm confused, why boil if you want a baked tater. 350 for 1 hour, reach in and give it a sqeeze with your fingers, you'll feel the give and she's ready

I only ever include baked potatoes in a meal if I have the oven on for other uses. Like baking or a stew or a roast. I consider it a gross waste of energy to put an oven on just to bake one or two potatoes. Not only is it bad for the planet, it is an expense I cannot afford any more. My family and I love the crunchy skin of a baked potato, so the microwave version is not an option. I have found that baked potato consumption has gone down since I started making potato skins and potato wedges instead. They save a lot of time and energy. Another example of where "time is money"! LOL!

Depends on how much time you have. I prefer the baked in the oven kind more flavor. But microwave is good in a pinch 4 minuter per potato for the first 2 then 2 minutes for each after 2. 2 = 8 minutes, 3 = 10 minutes. You can nuke half the time and bake the second half

Scrub russet potato, dry it off. Then rub butter all over it. Wrap in foil bake for approx. 1 hour depending on size and number of potatoes. Or, Scrub White Rose Potato put in pot cover with water and boil on medium until fork tender. Or to microwave wash potato prick all over with fork put in microwave and lay sheet of wax paper on top and cook 7 min. and rotate and cook again for 7 min. until done. The amount of time depends on size and number of potatoes you are cooking.

Personally, I strongly feel that it is healthier to bake food in the oven.

I have tried to crockpot potatoes. It stays moist. It only takes 4 hours on low.

either way is better, you can make one in the microwave in mere minutes, say 1-3 minutes. Just dont cook it too long or it wont be tender.

Honestly, if you want it to taste like they do in the restaurant, Boil them. Then to keep them warm, wrap in aluminum foil. The inside will be much softer.
