My female cat was a little mean to our male cat who wasn't even 1 year old, and to our other female cat who's black, why? It isn't really our black cat, it's our neighbors, but they don't care about it or feed it, so my mom said it was fine to feed it. So any ideas on why she's mean?

She could feel her territory is threatened. She is trying to make the kitten know that she is the boss, and he needs to follow her lead. Another reason (if neither of them are fixed) is that she is determined for hanky panky. Female cats are aggressive towards their mates, i don't know why.

Your cat could be mean to the other female because she is competing for territory.

Does the "mean" cat get her fair share of attention or does the poor thing and the baby get the most? Does the "mean" cat get scolded for hissing and swatting at the other cats?

Cats have a hierarchy in their organizations. They need to establish who is in charge. Your "mean" cat is only doing what cats naturally do to try to tell the newcomers that she was there first and she will be boss. The other cats will protest to try to preserve some of their dignity. It is perfectly natural behavior, and is best left to be settled between the cats. While the display may look and sound serious, it almost never results in anyone being seriously hurt. It is about establishing a pecking order. The less people interfere in it, the sooner it will stop.

Sometimes, just like people, a given cat will just not like the personality of another cat. In those cases, when it is established who is boss, you will find that they will just ignore one another and live in peace. The more distressed you seem to be about this behavior, the more of this behavior you will see. That's just cats.

Hope that helps you understand your cats a little better.

It been lots of things or one of lots of things. If it is not being cared for properly, it could feel threated. Sometimes, it's a territorial thing, my cat don't let other cats use his litter box, that is why he's our only cat. If it is when he's eatting, he could be trying to keep the others from getting his food. Animals that are mistreated get that way sometimes. They haven't learned to trust others.

Sometimes it depends on what kind of cat it is. Other times it could be because they know where they live and don't want other cats to invade it. It's like your home is her own bubble and she doesn't want other cats to invade.

Cats are very territorial. She may feel that these other cats are treading on her turf. Stay out of it and let them work it out. Once they've worked it out you'll find them getting along better.
