Even though the other answers say differently, you do have to be 21 to drink on a cruise. There is laws on the ships that make you be 21, even if you are in international waters.

The cruise lines will generally not sell alcaholic beverages to those under age 21, except that if you are with parents you can have beer and wine if your parents approve and you are over age 18. You cannot fudge your age on ship as positive proof of age is required to register as a guest and board the ship.

All ships abide with the aid of the 21 age shrink for eating on a cruise, to now no longer say which you cant drink yet be arranged to be asked for identity or denied....as quickly as you're in port you may drink as long as thats the age on the island (optimum look 18)

I went on a cruise 3 weeks ago. There IS no age limit in international waters. The deal is you are a US citizen, so you can't drink until you are outside US waters. 18? Drink until you puke. Under? Stick your head over the bar and get ready to pay $4.25 for Bud Light.

The ships rules apply no matter where you are at. The rules are that you must be 21 to drink on the ship. Now ashore, you will have no problem.
