Frozen Turkey Shelf Life

Some food can last a long time in the freezer. I'm not sure if you can glaze turkey's like you can fish. A fisherman friend of mine taught me that if you glaze your fish(dip it in water), it can last for many years. As long as you keep glazing it, though. The ice glaze acts as a protective coat which prevents the fish from getting freezer burnt. You have to periodically check on it in and reglaze it because the glaze does evaporate. I've glazed my fish, and after having for almost a year (and periodically reglazing it) it still tasted wonderful. No freezer burnt taste at all. He also suggested wrapping it with a plastic bag to prevent the air from getting to it. I'm pretty sure the same would apply to any other meat. In your mother-in-laws case though, it's probably not wrapped or glazed. Consider it garbage.

My Mom was the same way. No body would eat at her house.
Check with a Sears store or any good store that sells freezers.
They usually give you a chart with your freezer that tells you
how long you can keep different items.
I don't keep anything in my freezer longer that 4 months.
Good luck. Stay Healthy

Tell your Mother-in-law to go take her Prozac and THROW THE DAMN TURKEYS AWAY!!! THEY'RE NO GOOD!!

Frozen meat lasts no more than six months in the freezer.
Frozen vegetables last up to one year.

You're right, she's wrong!! Damn! Doesn't that feel GOOD?!?!

(Hey, you could do the whole "Ace Ventura" routine on her. LOL!)

Actually if kept frozen solid a Butterball turkey has a frozen life of nearly two years. But I wouldn't try it after three months.
