Do you think as time progresses there would be less religious people (I am not necesserely talking about more atheist , there are several people very spiritual but not clinging onto any religion) or do you think as time progresses there will be more religious people?. Please respond with your thoughts about a global tendency , and your thoughts as far as the tendency of just United States , in other words , will ,in your opinion, the world be less or more religious, will United States alone be less or more religious in the future?

I think the distinction you're trying to make here is between religious people, and what are commonly called "spiritual" people. Spirituality, until the mid-twentieth century or so referred to matters of the spirit within the context of religion. In more recent times, it's come to mean a person who believes in a god, or gods, or other "higher power," but who doesn't belong to or subscribe to the conventions of an organized religion.
The idea of religion in times past has been an organization that creates a group identity that supersedes that of the individual's identity. This is in sharp contrast to the American ideal of individuality. Most Americans treat large institutions with a degree of suspicion and hostility, hence the growth of "spirituality," or what is sometimes called the "seeker movement."
Americans find the idea of individuality in worship very appealing, because it provides all the comfort of religion, with none of the commitment, loss of personal identity, or other things seen as negative about organized religion.
I think that as time moves on, we'll see increased backlash toward organized religion, as well as a growth of atheism and "individual spirituality."

Personally, I don't think that the Religiosity or Spirituality of MAN will ever wane or disappear at all, but I venture to say that the so-called "Religions" of today, especially the large organizations and institutionalized Churches, will continue to deteriorate and eventually disappear...
And the sooner that the latter happens, the better it becomes for mankind as a whole. Yet Man will remain more religious than ever and clutch on to their OWN BELIEF systems or personal Faiths.
Either that, or it will take some major upheavals --perhaps as a result of some catastrophic phenomenon or a complete paradigm shift in Man's consciousness-- that will effect many changes in existing dogmas and in the teachings of present-day Religions as we know them to be.
As we now enter the threshold of this new Age of Aquarius, an Age that brings about substantial KNOWLEDGE that is made available to Man, this new and improved "YOU Religion"--for lack of a better term-- will no longer be able to deny the existence of Science and Technologies.
Yet such a platform will provide a philosophical and ideological lifestyle that continues to uphold the essence of "The Message" that has been delivered to us by the Ancient Great Ones who have seen the face of God...
And that is The Message of PEACE, LOVE and the BROTHERHOOD of Man.
Peace be with you!

The Bible does NOT mention specific places on earth as to your question ...but about your AMERICA ? Yes ! Revelations 13 : 11 - 18 ...it is the ONLY BEAST ( NATION ) in the whole world , proved by HISTORY , that CAME OUT OF TH EARTH ..vs 11 . Other nations : Babylon , Media - Persia , Greece , and Rome in Daniel / Revelation , according to PROPHECIES , DANIEL 7 : 2 , Revelation 12 , Revelation 13 : 1 , etc...CAME OUT OF THE SEA OR WATERS ...INTERPRETATION ? Rev 17 : 15 ...WATERS means PEOPLES , NATIONS AND TONGUES ...These are inhabited places ! However , America was SETTLED ...Vast Territories were SETTLED by people looking for FREEDOM of EVERYTHING...foremost of all , FREEDOM OF RELIGION which their ancestral nations from EUROPE did not permit ...UNFORTUNATELY , Rev 13 : 15 ... America would turn out to be the OPPOSITE to its laws ...vs 15 : and he ( America ) had power to give life to the image of the beast , that as many as would not worship the image of the beast SHOULD BE KILLED ...that was prophecied 2000 yrs ago ...and what do you see of America TODAY ? Tell me any other nation in this world that will ever have MORE POWER than AMERICA ? None other because God's word is TRUTH ...FOR GOD IS NOT A MAN THAT HE SHOULD LIE ...Numbers 23 : 19 ..Has the UN any POWER over America ,though America is a SUBSET of the UN ? No ! America waged war against the wish of the UN on Iraq ...did the UN have that power to stop America ? No ! If you don't believe God's Word , WATCH FOR MORE HAPPENINGS IN THIS WORLD. ..this generation , your children's maybe , and on till the end of time ...where America will force ALL NATIONS TO BE MARKED WITH THE 666 ...like it or not , it is GOD'S WORD....And the whole world will follow the beast ...Rev 13 : 12 ...therefore the whole world will be less religious ....II Timothy 3 : 1 - 9 ...Mathew 24 : False Prophets / Teachers ...those that prophecy / teach but NOT PROVED / APPROVED BY THE WORD OF GOD ...Finally , there is the parable of the TWO GATES ...MANY enter the WIDE GATE that leads to destruction but FEW enter thro' the STRAIGHT AND NARROW GATE TO LIFE ...MATHEW 22 : 14 MANY ARE CALLED BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN ....Yes , more evil in these LAST DAYS ...a warning to you and me ...so turn that you and your house be SAVED ....God Bless

Why do you think an atheist cannot be spiritual? I assure you we can be. Buddhists would be a prime example - many are atheists.
To answer, I think that religion will decline as time goes by, and possibly even a belief in god.
Edit - Thanks, no problem. :)

I think religion will change. As technology and science advances, religion will have to change. It did before. I was just reading an article about how the Church condemned Galileo and Copernicus for suggesting that the earth went around the sun, instead of the other way around. Eventually, it had to accept it. The Church is still reeling from all of this mess. Modern Christianity will also have to change, or go through the same catastrophe again.

In USA, most people are not really fanatic about their Faith and are not really into preaching and conversion; though we have our share of people like that.
Globally, today, the growing aggressive nature of Islam and it's misguided Imams and Fundamentalists is making a very significant contribution to the way in which it's members are are slowly being moved into the category of National Security risks.
I remember some Muslim General saying that the third World War would end up with being between Islam and the rest of the World.
It sure seems to be heading in that direction.
I'd seen right here, in reply to a Muslim lady's question about marriage, another Muslim lady had answered saying that love and caring, that most others had answered as being the only motivations were wrong and that as a "True Muslim", she saw her role as producing good Muslim children to populate the land with for the cause of Islam!? As you can see, they have a Religious and Political Agenda for everything!?
It's really very sad, because this is very scary to the rest of us and I'm very wary of Muslims, myself, nowadays; after what I've seen.
So I guess the General's prediction will come to pass.

In my opinion, there will be less and less "religion"...and speaking for myself, and possibly for others, more people are getting more and more turned off by controlling, false, cultish religions...Spirituality is where it's at! "Religion" is old and not progressing...Lots of peeps are getting fed up with it!

yes, because science is taking over and proving parts of the church wrong. (the earth is round, the sun is the center of the universe, and most recently: evolution) We are learning more and more each day about our physically environment.
