In my own personal experience, I determined that my shyness was actually a lack of self-esteem/lack of confidence. I always wanted everyone to like me. I was EXTREMELY shy, and one day I just told myself that I had to get over it. I had to realize that some people will hate you on the spot, some will like you. There's no pleasing everyone...so you just have to be yourself...be true to yourself...believe in what you believe in, even if you're you're the only one that may stand for what you stand for. As silly as it sounds, "You're unique, just like everyone else" is very true. Your own unique qualities, goals, beliefs make you that unique being...that no one else can be that person...only you. Good Luck!

usually shyness stems from childhood .. perhaps you werent encouraged to speak up as a child or belittled in some way ( even by peers rather than parents )
the way to overcome it is a huge step .. but it is about belief in yourself and your capabilities
i was very shy only a year or so ago .... now you cant shut me up for love nor money lol
there are groups that may help .. support/self help groups
but you have to believe in yourself and love yourself first and foremost
much love to you .... you are wonderful ( believe that )
i very much want to add
your name .. nightingale
a small bird with a beautiful voice ...
be like the bird xxx

Fear of being rejected is what brings about shyness. I believe that shy people are liked a lot more than extraverted people who talk to much. Shy people are better listeners than talkers and people love to have someone listen to them. There is nothing wrong with being a little shy, so don't try to change. Just be who you are.
