Mostly for easy acces in and out of the car, also the wheel is marked showing the center of the wheel to the steering colum. If something should knock out the alinment the driver can compensate by removing the wheel and turn it left or right so the steering is center again.

Because they don't have any doors and they have to climb in through the window. Most of the guys wouldn't be able to fit into such a confined space without the steering wheel attached.
Herbie Fully Loaded is a great movie, but why haven't you watched real NASCAR? It is SO exciting!

So the driver can get into the car. The steering wheels are so close to the bodies (to save on arm wear during the race) that most could not get into the car if it was attached.

the driver has to climb through the window...it would be hard to get into the seat with the steering wheel in the way. Trust me when I say it's really difficult to get in there with the steering wheel in place. I did that once and I had bruises among other problems from the steering wheel.

It's so the driver has enough room to both enter and exit the vehicle... they are packed so tightly in there (for their safety) that the steering wheel needs to be removed for them to get in or out.

As with maximum issues in life, you get what you pay for. a cheap steerage wheel isn't exciting. Get something impressive in case you get something. contained in the longer time period you receives a lot extra leisure out of it. evaluate it to using a Chevette vs using a Corvette. I actually have heard reliable issues about the Logitech wheel, yet have not used it.

My best guess is to keep the wheel calibrated. If they truck carrying the car hits a bump causing the wheel to turn a little or anything, it could get stuck in a n un-friendly direction. My 2 cents.. American.

It's removed so they can get in and out of the car. Sitting in a racecar seat is EXTREMELY tight ......you don't have much room......and you're extremely close to the steering wheel.....that's why it's removed before you get in and before you get out, it'd be terribly hard to get in and out with it on.
