My girl is 14 year old Balinese, but looks the same as she did when she was 7. Same weight, no grey hairs, it's like she never ages... but one thing that is concerning me is that when she sleeps she doesn't cat nap she is out like a light. She didn't use to do this- and I know old age is a factor but really?? She sleeps like a drunk human. *lol* and she also sleeps 75% of the day. I just want to know if this is normal behavior.. its like she stepped out of the realm of being a cat and now she is one of my elders. Weird I know, but its true. I will have to write another question about her that.

She's been to the vet recently for her shots/check up and i did inquire about her hearing & vision- the vet said she was a-ok in those departments.

Well they definately sleep alot more when they are older. If she seems lethargic when she's awake that may be reason for concern or is eating less or more than normal. Her hearing might be going somewhat so she might not have that whole cat listening to everything going on thing. Althought that's is somewhat rare in cats. I would just remember when she used to tear around your house when she was a kitten 14 years ago and enjoy the peace and quite of her older years :-)

Well I can tell ya this,I got a 4yr old cat and I can roll her over in the bed when we are napping and it is like she is dead. She is active about 4 hrs a day, sleeps all night . Since I am at home all day now I have noticed this. I just figured while at work she was bored and slept. But she still does it

Perhaps she is going deaf so outside stimulus doesn't wake her up like it used to. It is common for cats, just like humans, to have hearing and vision loss as they get older. If you're super worried take her to the vet and get a second opinion, but I think she is just getting old. :~)

It's not unusual for senior pets to sleep a lot of the time. They don't have the energy levels they had as juniors and kittens, and need a longer period of time to "recharge" their energy. If she's otherwise healthy, we suggest that you just keep on loving her and don't worry.

It might be the type of breed she is. But I'd call the vet & tell him your problem& ask him what he thinks.
