It means ignorance is not an excuse for the Law.

In others words, you are accountable for your deeds whether you know they are bad or not.

Ardent study of scripture is necessary to know right from wrong.

Rom 3:20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

you wouldn't believe the list of things that are sinful.it could be from a thought to an action.it simply means that a believer should become aware of what is considered sin so that you can avoid it;since sin keeps you from the love of God.the word of the Lord says be ye perfect as I am perfect, which means reframing from sin.and in order to do that you must know what is considered sin.

If you can find a Bible reference which backs up your question, I'm sure that many Christians would like to know where that it is in the Bible that it says such a thing.

That we should no about sin, we should no that sin is real and that it creeps in our lifes before we know it... We have to be alert the devil is real and his demons are all working over time... But that is great... All the evil works that he trys to bring into my life are fine because ther is a God in heaven who is so much stronger and so much powerfull than anything that he can throw at me...

Basically it means that the more we know what sin is, the better equipped (mentally and morally) we are to avoid it.

If you gave the chapter and verse, I could maybe explain it, but most likely, when something is taken out of context, it can be distorted.
