I know in my case stress has brought out panic disorder with agoraphobia. I say brought out because I found out that my father and his sister struggle with it and in the same ways that I do. I honestly believe that if I had learned to manage my stress and worry this disorder would not have hit as hard as it did and would not take such a toll on me now (I'm 38 BTW).
I believe stress can cause many physically and mental/emotional illnesses.

mental or psychological stress manefests in the body in different ways. Adrenaline rush when there is danger keeps us safe - in the same way a degree of worry on a small basis - helps us remember hopefully what needs to be happening or planned. It is only when 'you' feel the mental stress is not subsiding your body will shout louder and give physical symptoms 'hey there is something wrong!! take notice!!' I have observed both in myself and others that it is at that point people treat the headache rather than the cause of what gave the pain.
There is no right or wrong answer - is is individual as much as humans are - too little activity = stress - too much / hard challenges = stress / change lifestyle ie death of close person or pet / divorce / new job etc = stress.
Sometimes counselling or talking to third person can help refocus where you need to be. I really hope this helps you. Good luck.
