i believe christianity is based on pagan religions too...as i was saying long before, pagans cam first and christianity just plagiarized stuff from the pagan traditions... even jesus is a plagiarized hero, plagiarized from the moses figure from the old testament, plagiarized from greek mythology.

Yes. Even a quick glance on the fly at ancient mythology shows that the monotheistic god professed to be the one and only true god in Christianity, Islam and Judaism, is based on previous myths. Even the story of the sacrificial son who rose post mortem is the same as the ancient Egyptian story of Osiris. Cain and Able? A Sumerian tale predates it by 1500 years. I could go on, but frankly, I find it disheartening. For the most part, a believer in any one of the three monotheistic religions will not look further than their own noses. They are a classic case of, "Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up." (Thanks dad, for this quote!) And further...

All religious ceremonies and traditions, be they the marriage ceremony or a celebration like Christmas or Easter, have their roots firmly planted in ancient mythology.

It's sad that people refuse to educate themselves.

I agree with you the possibility of your theory. Monotheism could result from one god's worshipping overgrowing its initial influence to include the roles from the other deities. Early people often subscribe natural phenomenons to the work of gods and spirits. Due to the difference in nature,e.g. flood, rain, earthquake, lightning, etc, it is unlikely they would come up with just one supreme being but a couple of gods, i.e. greek or chinese

I think the asker did not want any scripture answers cause they are often just lifted from the books and are very long. Furthermore, they are not accompanied by the answerers own thinking, hence seeming to be lacking of critical thinking. Remember, if we do not subscribe to your religions, it is very hard for us to accept scriptural passages. If he wanted scriptural answers, he would have read them and come to his own conclusions

What is the basis for your belief?

And what's with the "no scripture, think for yourself" comment. Do you think that people who believe in the religious truths of the Bible are incapable of independent thought?

That makes as much sense as saying that scientists are incapable of independent thought, because they cite and refer to the scientific research and writings of other scientists.

Yes.

Amun-Rah => YHWY => Christ / God => Allah.

Polytheistic religions are the oldest and longest lasting religions. Monotheism is fairly new, no more then 4000 years old.

Oh right, and chocolate bars are derived from bags of M&M's.

Present your case, and we'll respond to it. You're making an unsupported assertion and asking others to disqualify it.

Not logical. :)

I think monotheism came first, it makes more sense that ppl began inventing more gods rather than eliminating them.
