God did forgive Adam and Eve. He is perfectly merciful, so He always forgives. But, God is also perfectly just, and justice demands punishment for sins. It's like when David had a man killed so he could marry the man's wife. After he repented, God forgave him. But, He still punished him by taking is son.

It's the same for everybody. Every person must suffer punishment, whether in this life or in the next, for all of their sins.

A good Christian would forgive the man who killed his child. But, justice demands that the man go to prison for his crime.

One more example:
When a child misbehaves, his parents always forgive him. But, they must punish him to make restitution for the offense and to teach him. God is our Father and He does no less for us. It brings to mind the scripture verse, "Blessed is the man whom God chastises".

I hope this helps you understand how forgiveness and justice work together.

Satan was banished from heaven; Adam and Eve were benished from the garden. Both for being disobedient. Because God is a just God, If he had forgiven Adam and Eve, he would have had to forgive Satan.

God the Father is holy, pure and perfect and by his natute he can have nothing to do with sin. He is pure light and wisdom.
To allow man the chance to reconcile he had to send his Son to die in our place - and pay the price we are not capable of paying. Jesus took all the sin of the world on the cross and bore it for us - so we could have forgiveness of sin throuigh faith in him. That is why the Father and he were separated while he was on the cross, because he fully carried all sin.
Therefore God could not look on Adam and Eve when they had sinned...

When He slew the animals to make coverings for them,God showed them that without the shedding of blood there can be no redemption for sin. That was the first bloody mess Adam and Eve ever saw,and I'm sure it drove home the point.(people were vegetarians up until then). After that ,the sin offering was a blood sacrifice, which is why Abel's was accepted, and Cain's wasn't.But that's how their sins were "Covered" not really forgiven until Jesus
died. Atonement means covering, not wiping away.

There are many attributes of God. God is Love. God is merciful. God is kind. God is Just. God is Grace. God is Longsuffering. God is Patient.

So, God cannot tolerate sin. Sin is what separates man from God. The penalty for Sin is Death. God, because he is Just, cannot just turn His head and pretend that sin didn't occur. That would go against His very nature of being Just. So, someone had to pay the penalty for sin, which is death. He chose His Son, who was the perfect sacrifice, without sin, to pay the price for you and me.

You and I can forgive someone for doing us wrong, because we are not purely Just. God, because of His Justice, demands payment. But, because of God's grace, He made the payment for you and I.

So, we either accept this gift or we reject it. A God of love, mercy, grace, and justice would let His only son take our place and pay the penalty for sin on our behalf.

He forgave them but because of their disobedience they were punished by being banished out of the land of Eden.
And they became aware of their nakedness and were ashamed. Also from then on eve and all women that followed would experience the unpleasantness of childbirth.

Bc someone had to pay the penalty for their sin, and it was them. God requires justice first. For us, Jesus has provided the justice, so He takes our sin bc He's paid for it, but we have to decide to follow Him for Him to do that. When we do, God forgives us.
