When I went and talked to him about my issues he said literally the following. It was in the context of illegal aliens and outsourcing . They (Il. aliens) come through the window not through the door and steal , rob ,kill and finely rape our women . I was shocked. I do not know why he reacted like that . What I gonna do . The problem is that this gay is teaching diversity management .

If this is indeed true, I am sorry you have to hear this type of rudeness. However, make sure that is what he actually said and that you aren't taking things out of context (this is sure to anger a few of you out there). See, I don't understand why he is talking to you about illegals when referring to your situation (?). While there are ignorant people who are educated, he may have been making a very abstract (possibly ridiculous) point that was lost in translation... That can easily happen when you are in a different culture from your own. I would not shy away from him, hold your head high (without being arrogant), continue to work hard, and see if there are any additional problems with him. If there are any more poor grades that you are sure are undeserved, you need to find out about the proper way to appeal the grade. Find out from the administrative office or the department head - NOT this Professor. Unless he blatantly harrasses you again, I would stick to the subject of your grades/performance in his class and not make it personal. When someone is an insufferable jerk, they eventually lose control and do themselves in without anyone's help. I would like to think that we as a culture handle ourselves more respectfully than this, but I also wouldn't be surprised if I went to another country to study if I ran into the same situation or worse at times. It isn't our God-given right that every ignoramous out there is going to accept us into their country with open arms. Some of the rudest, most obnoxious behavior I have suffered through was from several people in the service industry i.e. hotels, restaurants in a large city overseas because I was a "Rich American". They didn't mind taking my money, but had no problem being judgemental or downright nasty. They didn't know that it took every dime I had to go there. I let it roll off my back because I wasn't a permanent part of their world and didn't feel "entitled" to anything different. Fortunately, there were enough other wonderful people on my journey that I quickly forgot about the few. If this man is affecting your future, you need to take the proper measures to correct how you are directly affected.

Prejudice comes in all shapes and sizes. The worst is amongst student and teachers. Where if they don't like that student giving them a poor grade regardless if the student did just as well as other students or better. The teacher if having it out for you will continue regardless of what efforts you have against him. IF this continues I would suggest you speak with the educational board. And tell them how he has made you feel and put in an official complaint. You have confronted him. If the educational board of school board will not do anything to help you then write or speak to a state representative. This teacher needs to admit that not all people from other countries came through the window and there are immigrants here who came through the door and they came through the door to get what America has to give to make a better life for themselves. There are many exchange students in this country in a year. Everyone has a right to an education. I don't think I'd enjoy going to another country to be ridiculed of my heritage, or race. I wish you luck with this situation. Sorry if I've been no help. A very touchy situation.

Hey Brian E, use your noodle. This guy is obviously LEGALLY here otherwise he wouldn't be taking a university class.

To the questioner- I know what you mean. I'm a student in a Canadian university and I too get subtle discrimination from some (not all) professors and a lot of it from students. They meet a few lazy or stupid people from other countries and assume everyone is like that. It's so wrong. And guess what? I'm near the top of my class. Ha ha. But some people's attitudes never change.

If I were you I would talk to my counselor at the school and find out if you can be removed from this class and transferred to another. Or just drop this class all together and take it again next semester with another professor.
The thing is that he will probably give you trouble through the whole course of your semester and how can you actually verify that he is singling you out.

Well even if you are not US sitizen you are in legal status, I assume, on a student visa. University wouldn't have kept you if you were illegal. So he doesn't have anything on you. Now that we got past the legal/illegal issue, note that he is making discriminatory statements. Talk to one of the school councellors or Deans. See what can be done.

P.S. I'm sure you meant to say "guy" not "gay". Right...???...
