Ever gone to the gym and saw a guy with big muscles. I mean, I see a lot of guys working out and such, but today I saw a guy that I wanted to look just like. He had big arms (but not TOO big), big shoulders, and a good chest. I could tell this guy worked a few years for these muscles.

My question is - is what do you do to get bigger arms and bigger muscles in general? Is there some sort of rule to live by, or some secret? Does diet matter?

PS>>There's usually a bunch of hot chicks there too, huh? :_)

Well, you have to have a good diet for example body builders eat a lot of protein rich foods such as meat. For big shoulders and biceps you need to do push ups and 5kg dumbell curls.I do about 200 curls for each hand.I have a shape "growing" on my chest now and guess what?I am only 16.

Hmm, big question. As you pointed out, this guy has prolly been doing this for years, and has made it a lifestyle.

Starting out concentrating on your core lifts, like squats, bench press, and deadlifts, will go a long ways. Focus on form. Learn about the different muscle fibers (type1, 2 and 2a, aka fast and slow twitch muscles) and how to stimulate the right ones. Don't do too much cardio as this will reduce development of lean muscle mass.

Diet is very important too. Make sure you're getting enough protein (about 1 gram/lb of body weight per day), enough carbs, and enough other nutrients. Supplements are important too - protein powders, creatine, bcaa's and essential aminos, etc. Stay away from steriods! They're bad news.

Also, make sure you're getting enough rest. Most muscle healing and recovery occurs during rest hours. Make sure you aren't working out the same muscle groups daily as they need a chance to heal.

One good way to start is to get a decent personal trainer, someone you feel good with and works well with you (may not be the first trainer you come across).

Websites like www.bodybuilding.com are excellent resources.
