My friend's daughter still believes in Santa and she's 12! They won't tell her the truth. They don't care that she's being ridiculed in school. I want to tell her myself but I don't want that on my conscience. Don't you think the seventh grade is a bit old for St. Nick?

It's not about how old a child should be when they should stop believing in Santa, it should be about what age they learn that Santa isn't a real person. I think everybody has a little bit of Santa in them, no matter what age you are. It's about spirit, the togetherness of family and friends, and giving. You can tell a child that Santa isn't a person, but you can let them know that Santa is the spirit of Christmas. Good Luck!

That's not for you to decide---I'm sure that at 12, deep down she knows the person, Santa, doesn't exist, but she believes in the magic of the season. Let her be...don't be a grinch!

I think most kids do figure it out for themselves, but I don't think it's fair for her mom to encourage it at this age. Not only is she being ridiculed, but it's also teaching her it's okay to lie.

as long as she knows the real reason for the season ....I say no let her believe as long as she can... I had older cousins who ruined it for me when i was like 4 they just killed it for me.
