Who says we are "oppressed" who? I'm not oppressed in any shape or form. Where do you get of making such a statement when you actually have no fact behind it. Why don't you read the Quran if you want to know what it says. I can tell you that in Islam men and women are equal, women don't even have to take there husbands man when they marry. Any money Muslim women make there husband has no right to any of it or the right to ask her what she is doing with it. Muslim women are respected, protected and treasured by there families and there spouses. Where is the oppression in that? I reverted to Islam 2 years ago and i as a British citizen can tell you i have never felt more liberated than since i became a Muslim.

The Qu'ran says that women are just as equal as men and they are entitled to the same rights. Women are not opressed in Islam, it's just that the extremist Saudis and others do oppress them and take it to the next level and feel that women can't drive, they have to walk behind their husband, and they have to only show their eyes, etc.

They give the wrong image to the American public that Islam opresses women and puts them in a low status, but in reality, it doesn't. It's just the idea that the extremist and the fundamentalists pose on American society.

That we are easily confused in business matters and therefore must have a second woman in order to witness in any given situation. A man only needs himself. This made me slam the book shut and took me quite a while to not be angry so I could open it again. Lots of inequalities in there.

the book of Allah is emphatic that women are inferior to men and if they disobey their husbands the latter have the right to beat them (4:34). Their punishment for disobeying their husbands does not end there, because after they die they will go to hell (66:10). The Quran emphasizes the superiority of men by confirming that men have an advantage over the women (2:228). It not only denies women's equal right to their inheritance (4:11-12), it also regards them as imbeciles and decrees that their testimony is not admissible in the court of law unless it is accompanied with the testimony of a man (2:282). This means that a woman who is raped cannot accuse her rapist unless she can produce a male witness. Muhammad allowed the Muslim men to marry up to four wives (although he himself had a score of them) and gave them license to enjoy their "right-hand possessions" (women captured in wars), as many as they can capture or afford to buy (4:3), even if the woman is married before being captured (4:24).

In More detail:

[4:7] The men get a share of what the parents and the relatives leave behind. The women too shall get a share of what the parents and relatives leave behind. Whether it is a small or a large inheritance, (the women must get) a definite share.

It says they get a share, it doesn't say how much. It certainly does not say EQUAL or THE SAME

Elsewhere it says YOU MUST accept what you get, Allah requires it!

In other words you can't dispute your share

[4:11] GOD decrees a will for the benefit of your children; the male gets twice the share of the female.* If the inheritors are only women, more than two, they get two-thirds of what is bequeathed. If only one daughter is left, she gets one-half. The parents of the deceased get one-sixth of the inheritance each, if the deceased has left any children. If he left no children, and his parents are the only inheritors, the mother gets one-third. If he has siblings, then the mother gets one-sixth. All this, after fulfilling any will* the deceased has left, and after paying off all debts. When it comes to your parents and your children, you do not know which of them is really the best to you and the most beneficial. This is GOD's law. GOD is Omniscient, Most Wise.

In this one, MEN get TWICE the share of the FEMALE. It is QUITE specific.

[4:20] If you wish to marry another wife, in place of your present wife, and you had given any of them a great deal, you shall not take back anything you had given her. Would you take it fraudulently, maliciously, and sinfully?

[4:21] How could you take it back, after you have been intimate with each other, and they had taken from you a solemn pledge?

In Divorce a Women gets to keep what she was given. Nothing further is require. No community property, no spousal support, no separattion money. ONLY what YOU gave her.

[4:24] Also prohibited are the women who are already married, unless they flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you.* These are GOD's commandments to you. All other categories are permitted for you in marriage, so long as you pay them their due dowries. You shall maintain your morality, by not committing adultery. Thus, whoever you like among them, you shall pay them the dowry decreed for them. You commit no error by mutually agreeing to any adjustments to the dowry. GOD is Omniscient, Most Wise.

You can marry a married woman who is fleeing an Infidel or unbeleiver of Allah.

4:25] Those among you who cannot afford to marry free believing women, may marry believing slave women. GOD knows best about your belief, and you are equal to one another, as far as belief is concerned. You shall obtain permission from their guardians before you marry them, and pay them their due dowry equitably. They shall maintain moral behavior, by not committing adultery, or having secret lovers. Once they are freed through marriage, if they commit adultery, their punishment shall be half of that for the free women.* Marrying a slave shall be a last resort for those unable to wait. To be patient is better for you. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

You can also marry women slaves

[4:32] You shall not covet the qualities bestowed upon each other by GOD; the men enjoy certain qualities, and the women enjoy certain qualities. You may implore GOD to shower you with His grace. GOD is fully aware of all things.

Men shall be men and women shall be women and NO ONE is allowed to object to this, least Allah be angry at you!

[4:33] For each of you, we have designated shares from the inheritance left by the parents and the relatives. Also those related to you through marriage, you shall give them their due share. GOD witnesses all things.

You get what you get, don't complain.

No getting a lawyer and filing a contestment of wills by either MAN or WOMAN

Maybe that's not such a bad idea!

[4:34] The men are made responsible for the women,** and GOD has endowed them with certain qualities, and made them the bread earners. The righteous women will cheerfully accept this arrangement, since it is GOD's commandment, and honor their husbands during their absence. If you experience rebellion from the women, you shall first talk to them, then (you may use negative incentives like) deserting them in bed, then you may (as a last alternative) beat them. If they obey you, you are not permitted to transgress against them. GOD is Most High, Supreme.

You can only beat your wife as a last resort.

YOu have to try reasoning and bribing her first, then you can beat her with Allah's blessings.

[4:128] If a woman senses oppression or desertion from her husband, the couple shall try to reconcile their differences, for conciliation is best for them. Selfishness is a human trait, and if you do good and lead a righteous life, GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.

When oppressed or deserted by your husband you must see Dr. Phil and try and work things out.

[4:129] You can never be equitable in dealing with more than one wife, no matter how hard you try. Therefore, do not be so biased as to leave one of them hanging (neither enjoying marriage, nor left to marry someone else). If you correct this situation and maintain righteousness, GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

If you can be equitalble, you're cool with multiple wives.
