Im leaving for basic training in two weeks, and am getting a tattoo finished soon. If its still healing when I go to basic training, will they kick me out?

Im leaving for basic training in two weeks, and am getting a tattoo finished soon. If its still healing when I go to basic training, will they make me wait until its healed.

The tattoo is on my upper arm.

DONT, if its still healing, the MEPS doctor will call it an open wound and you wont ship. Wait to get it finished.

Marine here, and all tattoos prior to sign up were OK, but any after that were looked upon with a fearsome demise to the bearer by the commanding officer. In fact permission prior to any change in personal makeovers including your own body has to be approved by the upper command, even a moustache was not permitted.

Most of the armed services will ok a tattoo if it can not be seen. However sometimes when you are in there they look at you as being their property from there on out. So you might want to check it out before you do it.

it should be almost finished by the time you get there, if it's in two weeks. i don't see any reason they'd not let you enter. but the military does have new rules on tattoos and their placement. so you may want to check on that. i think the rule is that if it's not covered by your clothing, it has to be able to be covered by the palm of your hand. good luck in basic!!!

Unless it's a tatoo of the US Flag The drill seargant may remove it with a wire brush, but othewrwise, you won't feel a thing...
