I do have a big smile on my face right now because what you've said is funny.
But - I think the tradition of Solstice is so old that we can safely proclaim the last week and a half of December as a *HUMAN* holiday with many different meanings to different people - as well as one common meaning --- being with those we love and sharing our own abundance through gift giving and feasting.
True - it is a Pagan holiday - but we don't mind sharing, do we? :)

Which day Christmas actually lands on is irrelevant, it is setting a day aside to rejoice His birth.
Christmas in the west is celebrated on December 25. The pagan roots of this day no longer has any modern meaning. Why would I care about a pagan holiday converted to Christianity over a millennium and half ago? It helped convert them didn't it?.
Christmas in the east is January 7 according to the Julian calendar, a totally different day, but with the same original idea.
I would be more concerned about Christmas not even having anything to do with Christ anymore, and instead about buying the most presents. That seems worse than it getting its start from a pagan holiday.

Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD!
As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.
Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it.
Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude.
(It's Not the Christian Way, ya know?)
ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004
Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions.. So spend 39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a Holiday Tree. . . . It's a Christmas Tree! Also, send this to your e-mail buddies.

Just because it isn't Jesus's actual birthday doesn't mean that the holiday has no meaning. That's like saying that visiting a cenotaph cannot be a respectful act because the body isn't really there.
Merry Christmas to my Christian neighbors (and for those non-Christians who celebrate the secular aspects of the holiday).

No, my parents still work sometimes on Christmas, it depends if they can get a day off. It's nothing wrong if you work on that day. It's Christian's faith that that's Jesus's birthday,so yah. It may not be the real date, but it is supposedt to be the meaning that is important.

It's an observation of His birthday. Like celebrating MLK day on Monday or Friday regardless of which day of the week it falls on.

the romans and catholics were the ones who made christmas on the date that it is now.
jesus was not born on december 25th, we today just use this day to celebrate the arrival of christ on earth, and his return to earth someday.
atheists use it for fun, and sometimes to mock christians.
that means that you should work also.

Who cares if it's on a monday? It is a day to celebrate the day God was made human....and if you must know, Easter really is much more important.

Old news dear. Change the date, wouldn't make a difference. Many Christians realize this, calendar was changed a LONG time ago. We're still celebrating the birth of our Savior.
