I have to write an essay in 6 days. Writing to a certain topic is not my strong point, especially when the topic is already picked (as it will be). I feel like my English teacher is really expecting a lot from me and I don't want to let her down. What can I do to prepare or to make myself better?
Thanks so much!

If your question is any indication, you are articulate and write very well. I think you're up to the challenge - and that's how you have to look at it - as a challenge.

Try taking the topic and writing it on a blank sheet of paper.
Then Google the topic.
Around the topic title, write a few lines from 5 of the sites you visit. (Just a few key words). Then go away and leave it alone for half an hour.
Come back to it, and see what you can put together.
I'm a writer - it works for me most times I'm dumped with a subject I could care less about.
Good luck!

In your rough draft, make headings of what what each section of your essay should contain.

e.g.
* the opening (what is it about)
* your summary of the topic
* research you have done - state your source of information, quotes etc
* any other important/interesting facts about the topic
* conclusion.

using the headings to break it down into smaller section and to help you to stay on track of your topic.

When your finished have someone proof read it, check your grammar, they can tell you if something does not make sense etc. They could suggest rewording a sentence/section.

Then you can go ahead and type out your final copy.

Good Luck

Write a rough draft and have a peer and your english teacher edit it. They may pick up mistakes that you didn't notice.
