It's a Monday this year. What else have they got to do?

Since Jesus came to reconcile the entire world to Himself (yep, atheists, too), I say, let them have the day off.
Let them enjoy the day, and have some happiness.
After all, doesn't Jesus extend His love to all people, everywhere?
And, who knows? Maybe they will come across something, some reason, on that day, to help them overcome their disbelief, and maybe we can embrace a new brother or sister.
Now, wouldn't that be a perfect Christmas gift??

Why should they? Christmas was a Pagan Holiday long before it ever became a Christian one. Besides, it is now a Federal Holiday and rarely will you find people working except in Emergency Care positions (911, hospitals, etc).

I would really like to know why some Christians are trying to so hard to remove other people from these holidays, when none of their holidays are theirs to begin with... even Easter started as a Pagan holiday. What would you do if suddenly all the Pagans, with the support of history and archeology, started doing this to Christians?

Do you know how fast anyone can change religions?
There was this dumbass atheist on a video on youtube. He was like, "I care, because my rights are being taken away because if my beliefs." Well, dude, if you want your rights, wear a cross on your neck, go to church every Sunday with your friends, and be a christian. You can be a christian without believing in God. Christmas is fun.

And you are just ignorant, and pathetic. "It's a Monday this year. I checked the calendar a hundred times, and I layed out a long-term plan about how I'm gonna make every christian on yahoo answers make all atheists go to work on Christmas, because I absolutely hate atheists, and even though my religion teaches me to love everyone, I'm gonna make fun of atheists, because they chose to deny Jesus, and my religion is the true religion, because only Jesus can give you eternal life, Mohammed the sex pervert is not the real savior, Jesus is, and I don't care about people say, I love Jesus, and it's so easy to love him, because he's dead; alive people are so self-centered and illogical. God bless."

Its a Federal Holiday, why shouldn't they stay home?
Not all Veterans get Veterans Day off (like the other poster said) I seem to work Every Veterans day =) Be happy that the pagans get a day off too, they may not be Christians, but they are still people right?

Well they can sleep in...maybe have a cup of tea. Maybe answer a few questions on Yahoo Answers. Anything but work =)

It's a fair question. Christmas isn't just a Christian holiday--it never really was entirely,--and many non-Christians celebrate it as a secular holiday, concentrating on spending time with family and gift-giving. I wouldn't mind working so a Christian could be off. In fact, if it were a matter of one or the other of us having to work, I would gladly volunteer.

Just because one is an atheists doesn't make them believe in family any less.
Christmas has come to alot people, to mean something more then just religious holiday. Instead of focusing on the religious ascpet of it there is more time to focus on family and the joy of being alive and with them. Chrsitams for my self is the only time of the year my whole family gets together, it a tradition, whether religiouse or not.

Nothing's worng with the religious part of it of course.
You also can't force somebody to work or not work because of there religion or lack of.

Considering Christmas is based on Yule, no. If you look at science, it shows Jesus would have been born during the summer, not December. When the Christians took over, they adopted the Yule/Saturnalia holiday to make it easy on the people who already were used to celebrating that time of year.

Well as an atheist I would celebrate Christmas...if I had children. Most religious people fail to realize that Santa Clause means more to their children than Christ does. I am sure that many Christians celebrate Halloween even though it glorifies bad things like..gasp...the devil.

It's a public holiday. Like Labor Day. No-one asked us what we'd like as a day off. Are holidays only to be spent in religious observance then? You getting up at 4am to begin your devotions, take some light gruel before morning prayers, a service at church, more prayers....
