My fiance and I are of different ethinicities. I am Mexican, with olive skin, dark hair and dark eyes. He is Irish, with pale skin, light blue eyes and reddish-blonde hair. Our Pictures: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f133/chilandrina/medannlooklike.jpg

I know genetics are hard to gage, but I was wondering if anyone knew characteristics our baby would most likely have (skin color, eye color, hair color). I know some people are really good on the genetics topic, I unfortunately am not. Just wondering.

I've found with boys the male is generally dominant. However, with girls the femal is generally dominant. But, truth is the spectrum goes back to your parents.

As light or as dark as both your parents. Same for hair color. I have a friend whose husband is blond hair, green eyes, and pale. While she is from India and has brown complexion, black hair, dark eyes. Her oldest looks like her dad and her youngest like her. No middle ground!

I'm American, hubby from India. Our son is right in the middle. Skin tone not light as me not dark as hubby. Got hubbys eyes and hair. But, my nose and mouth. LOL.

I believe your baby will be adorable whatever he or she may look like...Im guessing your baby will be darker because of your Mexican coloring. More olive than fair like your fiance. The baby may have blue eyes, and dark reddish-brown hair
Of course I can only guess on this. Ive heard that the Brown haired-eyed spouse in dominate in the genes when it comes to your baby being born. So most likely it will take after mommy.

In heredity and genetics, the dominant traits gets inherited by the offspring.

These traits can come directly from the parent or from the family lineage.

If you can roll your tongue into a U-shape, you have dominant trait.

Other dominant traits:

If your earlobes hang free at the bottom.
When you clasp your hands together and interlock the fingers, if the left thumb is on top.
If you have dimples.
By being a male.
If your little finger bends toward your ring finger.
If your thumb is straight and does not bend backward.
If you have freckles.
If your hairline is shaped in a downward V-shape.

There is really NO way to guess that. I have dark hair and dark eyes and am darker complected and my Husband has blue eyes, light hair and is fair complected and I just knew our son would have dark hair and eyes, but NOPE he looks just like his dad fair skin and all.
Good Luck though.

Usually the darker skin tones are predominate, but I have seen kids born to interracial couples that look more like the lighter-skinned parent.
