My husband who is US citizen has been a student for past 8 years who just started his new job from this month hasn't applied for a tax return for past 3 years since he hasn't make much money to ask for return.

However I and him are getting ready for the application for a green card but it says he(sponsor) needs to proof tax return of past 3 years which he doesn't.

In this case, what does he need to do? Is there any way to proof the fact he did pay tax but has never asked for return?

He really doesn't want to ask his parent for anything so we can't get anyone to write paper for him. However I have money in my bank that can proof I don't need to be financially supported by him.

If my proof(bank statement) can show I don't have to be supported by him, doesn't he have to supply the tax return?

Thank you in advance.

Having another person to sponsor me means have someone as co-sponsor? I can support myself which I can proof. My question was whether he still needs tax return though I can proof I have enough money without his "financial support".

I have been involved with this in past months, and the best that i can recall the wife can show, or give proof that she will not be a financial charge on the public, i think that's all it comes down to, they want to make sure you nor your husband will be in a state sponsored soup line or anything like that you know what I'm saying, i think they will understand the facts and that is what they want the facts, add any information about how he pays his bills at this time, and credit records and that will help, also what he has gone to school for a doctor or what if it will really pay well later on i think they will feel he must be responsible to have stayed with the training this long, just be honest and that will help more than anything i think, good luck

No he can't. But you can have another person sponsor you if you can find someone that meets the requirements.
