I also had sleeping problems for almost a year, and it even landed me on the hospital ER, and then on to the psychiatric section of the hospital.

I know exactly how you feel, because sleeplessness ruins your life.

I don't know how much anxiety or stress you have, or if you are depressed, but if you are either, you should take antidepressants, since they will give you energy during the day so that you can be active enough to make yourself sleepy by nighttime.

It seems with your immunity to sleeping pills that you have to go the natural way.

That means trying Melatonin, Valerian Root, Herbal teas that induce sleep like Chamomile, and maybe St. John's Wort.

Just spend as much time as possible looking up natural remedies for sleeplessness on the Internet, and you may find the help you need there.

Also, look at the load of info from all the people who answered another person's question on here about how to get sleep!

I've had sleep problems myself and I learned something that really helped me. An hour or two before bed don't watch any television or use the computer. For people with insomnia the light from the t.v. and computer screen can really mess up your sleep cycle. If you can, keep the lighting in the room that you're in as dim as possible so that your brain will begin to switch into the sleep cycle more easily.

Also, try to do relaxing and soothing things during this time before bed such as listening to relaxing music, doing deep breathing exercises, reading, taking a warm bath or anything that's relaxing to you.

Like others have mentioned here, don't drink alcoholic or caffeinated drinks, they'll only make it harder to sleep.
Drinking chamomile and valerian tea can be a big help.

Don't take naps during the day for this can change your sleep cycle.

Don't use your bed for anything besides sleep (and sex too) The reason is because you don't want your mind to associate your bed with anything other than rest. Lying in bed to watch t.v., read, etc. can only make it harder for you to fall asleep when it's time for bed.

Although I've never tried this, I've heard that accupressure can be helpful for sleep problems. I came across this site that offers accupressure bands that you wear on your arm and you can take a look at it here. http://www.homerecovery.com/sleep_aide_accupressure_band.htm I guess it might be worth a try. :)

Other than those things I don't have a lot to add except that I wish you the best of luck. Take care

P.S. Here's another website you might want to look at. It's 41 simple steps to help with insomnia and although some of the ideas are kind of funny it seems like a really good site.

If u are serious about yourself, do Vipashyna course at
Igatpuri. It has nothing to do with any cast, community, religion.
It is a scientific course which can provide u solutions which Dr's could not or sleeping pills could not. The only
quality needed for undergoing the course is sincerity and
commitment to the self.

Try increasing your excersise and maybe try relaxation cds, aromatherapy and maybe a warm bath before bed. I have major insomnia and sleeping pills do nothing for me. Melatonin helped for a while, but if I work out for about an hour every night and then unwind with everything i mentioned it helps. Best of luck!

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.

try valarian root. you can get it at most drug stores... it helped me a lot, and it helped others on here too... they posted the same kind of question, and they tried it...

its a capsule and its not that expensive... puts you to sleep in no time...
(not really a drug, so its not addicting, and its more healthy for you.) whatever you do, don't take melatonin though, cuz that's bad for kids, teens and peoople into their mid 20's)

Have you tried self hypnosis or mediation? Self hypnosis can put you right to sleep, but you have to practice it for at least a few weeks.

Here is a link to amazon with books on self hypnosis:

Anxiety usually causes sleeplessness. Any antidepressant should help.
