Why when I mention words such as God, Satan, the Bible, do people assume I am with an organized religion of fanatics or a cult type religion. A few ruin it for all. Your relationship with God is personal, you go to church because you need to be refreshed, so why must I be insulted for my beliefs? Christians are more attacked for believing than unbelievers.

God bless you all . . . . is that wrong or harmful to say? Is that offensive? What about God Bless you when you sneeze? Is that an insult? God bless America? Do you not sing this? Ever? Do you use our monetary system in which it says "In God We Trust", should you boycott money? Were you offended when people were praying to God after 911? Do you refuse to say the pledge of allegience . . . . One nation under God? Are you offended by Pray for our troops on a bumper? Religion is organized created by people, God is embedded into this country, not religion. It is in God I believe, not religion. They are two different things!

God can be of any religion, not just christianity, I personally am a Pagan. But I am not offended by these sayings or actions. I feel that people are too sensitive and should chill out. I can say god bless you when someone sneezes without getting phobic about it. To me it is no different than saying thank you or excuse me.

Religion and deities don't have to go hand in hand. Some can believe in them without organized religion. Myself, I see no evidence of them so they may or may not exist and I'll find out for certain only after death.. I'm happy with that.

A person can say God bless you to me and if they expect something in return they will be disappointed because I never say anything to that statement. As far as sneezing go I say just 'bless you' because I raised that that was what polite people do. No I do not sing God Bless America...ever.

Of course I use money on the rare occasion.. I mostly do things with a debit card so I don't handle actual money that often. I'm not offended to people praying to their deities in any instance so long as they don't try to twist my arm to join them... I never prayed even when I was a christian so I'm not about to start now.

When I say the Pledge of Allegiance I leave out the phrase 'under god' .. it's not original to the text anyways but was added by the Eisenhower Administration to promote social cohesiveness during the cold war era.

The christian deity may be saturated into the America public but that is because those who believe created religion and that helped to solidify it. Religion and deities may be two separate things, but they are and will be forever linked.

Because religion created the word God. And besides the word God suggests that you are talking about a person, because that's what religions think god is. If you wanna talk about the divine consciousness, then you can use other names like nirvana, enlightenment, love, soul, etc. Who is god? Where is he? One nation under god, what's that supposed to mean. There's nothing but sky above us. I don't refuse to say the pledge of allegiance. I respect religion, but that doesn't mean I believe in all the bullshit that it teaches. Humanity has gone nowhere with the goddamn religion. It's only gotten worse.

What a lot of waffle! Well, most of your questions are negated because we just DOn'T believe in the existence of a god. You think we are much more sensitive than we are - why on earth do you think we'd get offended (!) by someone saying Bless you? Church and state should be separated for the good of all. Chill out a bit and think before you get in contact with a computer keyboard. We won't bite.

Religion is an organized system of belief that generally seeks to understand purpose, meaning, goals, and methods of spiritual things. These spiritual things can be God, people in relation to God, salvation, after life, purpose of life, order of the cosmos, etc.

I don't think many people know the definition of religion. Just like most don't know the definition of Church:

The word is used in two senses: the visible and the invisible church. The visible church consists of all the people that claim to be Christians and go to church. The invisible church is the actual body of Christians; those who are truly saved.

The true church of God is not an organization on earth consisting of people and buildings, but is really a supernatural entity comprised of those who are saved by Jesus. It spans the entire time of man's existence on earth as well as all people who are called into it. We become members of the church (body of Christ) by faith (Acts 2:41). We are edified by the Word (Eph. 4:15-16), disciplined by God (Matt. 18:15-17), unified in Christ (Gal. 3:28), and sanctified by the Spirit (Eph. 5:26-27).

I liked your question, it's a great one. I could not help myself in sending this information because I am true to the Lord.

They are indeed two different things, but the irony of your statement is that "a few" can "ruin it all" for atheists, too. Who says we all believe that? I think you're making the same type of generalization you were complaining about.
Also, don't try to say "believers" are more often attacked than atheists... that may be true on a message board with a bunch of nerdy, computer-obsessed atheists that don't represent the whole, but in the real world- on the street and in the stores- we are much more hated than you.

You are allowed to believe as you will, I insist I be allowed my lack of beliefs.
You say religions were created by man. I say that god was too.
I am not offended by the prayers of others, except when they try to alter my life based on their beliefs.

Christians are attacked because a lot of them are rude and they judge others. If you don't good for you. But you should fight back against the Christians that are ruining your good name by telling people they are going to hell instead of fighting back at people who are sick of hearing it.
