I mean a very small pile of dirt. This is referring to what a dog would make while burying a bone. Let's say no wider than 16 inches by 16 inches. I thought "monton" (accent on second o) referred to a very big mound, like five feet tall or higher. Is loma a small hill or small mound? Thanks for your help. I am rusty on my Spanish.

Well, surprisingly you had the answer to your own question but did not know it. The word to translate a little pile of dirt is una pila de tierra. Pile=pila in Spanish
