I knew someone that got dreads colored. I agree that you should pick a color that is close to your natural, and I would suggest that you go to a salon. Getting the color in evenly and rinsing the dye out of dreads after coloring is very difficult. It would be better to have a professional do it.

How To Cover Gray

I have locks too.. for 24 years.....you have to be careful about dyes because if any residue is left in the locks it will cause them to break...

there is a product named Herbatint..... it has no caustic chemicals and will cover grey..... i have been using it for 3 years now.... (i am 44 with grey for the last 4 years). it will also lighten your hair up to two shades lighter... this product is so gentle and easy to use that you can do it yourself at home..... it is so gentle you can use it without gloves... it will color you hands for a few days... but it will not harm your skin.

Go to www.herbatint.co.uk/.... the official website, to see the colors available..... then go to a cheaper website to buy it..... try www.houseofnutrition.com... i just ordred some today.. i use 4 bottles (my hair is on my butt and thick)... to do a full dye.... or 2 bottles to touch-up the roots. This is a GREAT product for locks.. I have recommended it to dozens of people... I even got a few lockticians to change the product they were using...

Good Luck

(Irie for the rastas :-) )

Get a dye color that covers gray and matches your natural hair color the closest(before the gray).

do not use black dye, as when your hair grow longer i will be very obvious. use something more to brown base as when your hair grow it will not look obvious. do not use highlight base as the colour will not absorb into gray hair.
