If you really want to model, then you have to convince your parents that you are serious. Start researching the profession, what it takes, etc. Present them with facts that show that you know what you are talking about and you know what's entailed in being a model.
If they still won't let you, it's ok. Try to get involved in fashion shows at school or similar things. Then when they see that it is a serious thing for you and not just a passing interest, they might agree.
Also, I don't know much about Barbizon, but most of these model searches are usually scams. If you sign up with an agency, you might need to pay money for photographs, but make sure that the money doesn't go to the agency directly, but rather that the agency gives you a list of recommended photographers. A reputable agency will not force you to take "lessons" at a fee in order to be represented by them.
This is a Canadian site, but it has some info on how a reputable agency works. I'm sure there are similar American sites:

I can think of a few reasons that your parents would be a little skeptical, first a school is selling you educational program (anyone can qualify to learn) second, there is a big industry in getting young ladies to become high paying models, You will need a extensive photo portfolio ( costing $1000s) There is fierce competition of 10,000s of girls trying for the one job that really does exist. Currently we are seeing a epidemic of anorexia and bulimic young ladies trying to be that perfect size Zero. The number of plastic surgeries that these model wanna bes undergo unnecessarily is skyrocketing to astronomical numbers. One thing you have to be prepared to hear is a lot of criticism, because of the level of competition..can you handle that.
Let me ask you have you every won a beauty pageant? Do you have any experience in actual working conditions of a modeling agency? Have you read any books on the subject or bios of models and what they went through. I am not try to dissuade you from this but looking realistically at it. It sound like a dream but I would recommend you research the numbers on it and ask the school these two Qs, 1) How much will it cost if my parents write one check to cover ALL my expenses of becoming a model? Lastly, what does the school guarantee in writing as to your success in the field?

Maybe your mom is just trying to look out for you! She has probably had some experience on this sort of thing, and is probably concerned of the outcome. I would suggest that you research al ittle bit on this modeling business so that she has a better idea of what you will be doing, and that sort of stuff. She is just insecure without info! Explaining more about it will make you seem much more mature!

FYI.....this will cost you a lot of money and you'll probably not get a modeling job with them. Barbizon is in this to make money for Barbizon.
If you truly want to be a model your best bet is to find an agent.

Get your mum to check the schools credentials and reputation it may not be a proper school and just be a business trying to get young girls to do things they shouldn't.
Get your mum to go with you so she can check it out with you.
I've never heard of a "modelling school" if an agency wants you then they train you. It all sounds suspect to me.
If the school called you then why do you have to do a model search surely they have your details anyway ?

Tell them that this is what you've always wanted to do.Now I underdstand if you're too young and have a life ahead of you-not saying you don't-and have many other choices. If you've made up your mind and decided that this is what you want to do,just tell them.they can't do anything about it.It may sound bad-but bribe them, tell them that the'll get some-not a lot lol-of your paycheck.if that don't work, tell them that you want the world to see the beautiful body and face that your parents gave you......honey.....let me tell you something........if you got it....flaunt it!!!!!!! lol....just tell them you've made up your mind, and thats what you're going to do-with or with out them.It is a lot easier,to have tehm by your side, but you don't want to regret having the chance to model, and not taking it!!! Hope this helped!!

Tell them you'll make more money modeling than you would working a minimum wage job, and that modeling can open doors.

I think first you should make sure you yourself are convinced about modeling...Is it something you really want to do? Or do you just think you should want to do it? Once you spend some serious time on that it will become easier to explain it to your parents.
