A foolproof way to make sure the turkey is perfectly cooked and juicy is to use the Turkey Cooking Bags (made by Reynolds Wrap). I have used them for 10 years now, and they have never let me down. You just wash the turkey, stuff it if you want to, rub a bit of oil on the skin, and cook it in the bag as directed on the box. Very simple and always turns out good.

I like those answers. I especially like the bag idea. There are all sorts of ways to cook a turkey, including on sand spread out on the ground, impaled on a 2x4 stake with a metal bucket over it, and charcoal heaped around it. I'm not kidding. If you know someone who has a turkey fryer, it makes the BEST turkey. You need someone who knows how to do it safely. Away from buildings. But the only reason I answered this is because there are hotlines if you run into trouble:

Have a happy turkey day! And give the bag lady ten points. That's a GOOD one!

#1 - if your turkey is still frozen - get it in the fridge! I would consider leaving it out for a few hours tonight to let it get a head start.

If you have time tonight, and your bird is thawed or is thawing, consider brining it. Recipe, including roasting instructions, is in the link below. I used a brined turkey last year, and was stunned by how good it was.

Better to overcook than undercook the turkey, by the way. People forget a dry turkey in a year. People remember the turkey that made everyone sick for a LONG time.

Honey baked hams and turkeys are much better than doing it yourself
