maybe is not depending on the type of wedding that you want. If you want a small wedding it is too soon. If you want a big wedding then start now. Specially start saving money. Good Luck And congratulations

Its never too soon to start planning! But remember to get new information every year because it does change! Also research a few different companies for each aspect of the wedding. There may be a photographer or something that will go out of business. Also remember the closer a wedding gets the more you will change your mind. Since you are having a big wedding I would start thinking about a location first because that is what will book the quickest. But look into each option so that you do not regret it in a year! Good luck and congrats!

Wow...yeah it is really early to start planning. I am getting married in June and I started planning in March and I would recommend that time frame to anybody. And the only real reason I started planning in March was because I wanted to make sure that the reception hall I wanted would be available. I actually just booked my caterer last night. One church I called a couple of months ago told me that they normally didn't book the church that far in advance. I was shocked. But what I did like 2 years before the wedding was I started buying wedding magazines and planners and I bought a binder and looseleaf paper. As I would flip through the magazines I would cut out pictures(of cakes, gowns, invitations), write down dress designers that I liked, and bridal shops in my area. Just any thought that came to mind I wrote. If I thought of somebody new to add to the guest list I would write it. I even started looking into the music that I would want to definitely be played. Just do alot of research. That way you will know everything that needs to be know from who pays for what down to your very last dance. My favorite wedding website is weddingchannel.com. Check it out!
But as far as starting to book reception sites, and photographers, and picking your dress I would suggest not to. Some of the reasons being: your budget could change, your tastes could change, people may go out of businees or move, and maybe (and I'm not saying it will) you guys may even break up. Like you have no clue what could happen in the next year.
But girl you have plenty of time. Don't start worrying about it now.
If you need anything or have any questions you can e-mail me. I love weddings. I swear if I knew the money would be good I would be a wedding planner. It's so fun! I told my best friens when she gets married I'm planning the wedding.
Also check out mags4cheap.com. I bought all of my magazines from this site for super cheap.
But Congratulations and Good Luck! Everything will be perfect. Right now all you need to do is breathe and envision!!! lol

wow.... that's more than 2 years away.
I would say.... yes.
I plan on getting married in 2-3 years as well. We don't wanna plan it though....We weren't even officially engaged because that'll just lead us to plan the damn thing!
It pretty much depends on how old you are, how long you two have been together, and if you two are engaged to begin with...
If you are old enough (atleast in your 20s) and are engaged, if you want a big a s s wedding, I guess reserving the place you want is a good idea... ESPECIALLY on Valentine's Day....
(Btw, I'm having a small a s s wedding. LOL. So yay... no planning).

Hey there,
Firstly, congratulations on your engagement. Secondly, yep, a lil early from my point of view. Give yourself 8-12 months if you really wanna get a head start. I'm getting married in September of next year, and I have done quite a bit. We just got engaged in September as well, so we will have a 12 month engagement minus two days, and I started planning as soon as we had the date set. Also, this is just personal opinion - but Valentine's Day is a commericial holiday, why not pick a day that will be just YOUR day. :)

I would say that's a little too far in advance. Most vendors won't take bookings for that far out. But you can be looking at the bridal books and maybe attend a wedding show to see what's the current trend. In two years, it may be different, though.
Good luck!

not at all. In fact alot of the places you might rent from give discounts for booking early. Not just the venue but the rental companys for linens or tents as well as silverware plates and glasses.
