A hernia isn't typically something you render first aid for but in the event you had an individual with a sudden large hernia you would first have them lie down and attempt to reduce that hernia by gently pushing the protruding part back into place. In the event you cannot reduce the hernia and the patient is in pain the hernia has most likely strangulated and they need to be transported to an emergency department for immediate care.
