You'll need to first backup the DVD to your PC using a DVD ripping utility. Then you can convert the DVD video to a format that can be edited by your video software.

Here's a great website with links to lots of free utilities:

Well.. the program you are looking for is called Adobe Premier Pro 2. It is rather expensive - however Adobe offers a 30 day free trial at www.adobe.com.

Premier Pro 2 is a VERY powerfull video editing program and is the industry standard.

With the 30 day trial you should have enough time to play around with it and decide if you want to purchase (you may be able to find a less expensive copy on Ebay).

The only free program that I have found that will let you take clips from DVD movies is called "dvd-ripper" , the installer I have for the program is 1.18MB. Search the net for this program and see what you come up with.

If you don't mind paying go to www.download.com and search, you will likely find pay programs that have more options and functionality, but for me DVD-Ripper is more than sufficient.
