According to the History of Joseph The Carpenter, which is a book in the Apocryphal of the New Testament, these were the ages of Joseph and Mary.
The story is credited to none other than Jesus speaking on the Mount of Olives.
Any of you changed your mind?

I don't believe that Joseph was 90 when he married Mary... however, it is true that in those days marriages of young girls (some as young as 12-13) to older men were common. The average life expectancy back then was somewhere around 50 (I'm being generous with this estimate as i don't have the exact figures handy at the moment.) It's quite possible that Mary was around 12 and Joseph was around 25-30 at the time of their marriage.

It is indeed funny how people today (especially Christians) would frown upon such a union, but in biblical times it was indeed common practice.

Joseph was a carpenter and needed to support his bride ,now you tell me how he could have done this if he was 90, talk about clutching at straws.
